X670 AORUS ELITE AX RYZEN AM5 MOTHERBOA
- Part 1: AMD Socket AM5, support for: AMD Ryzenâ„¢ 7000 Series Processors (Please refer “CPU Support List” for more information.)
- The X670 AORUS ELITE AX RYZEN AM5 MOTHERBOARD is designed to support the latest AMD Ryzenâ„¢ 7000 Series ProcessorsThe chipset supports PCIe 4.0, USB 3.2 Gen 2,
- and SATA 6Gb/sdata transfer rates and for various peripheralsm stabilityMemorymotherboard offers extensive support for DDR5 memory modules,
- with impressive data transfer rates of up to 8000MT/s (OC). It features 4 DDR5 DIMM sockets,
- supporting a maximum system memory capacity of 192 GB (48 GB single DIMM ) in a dual-channel memory
- Â Users can refer to the “Memory Support List” for detailed information on supported memory types, data rates, and configurations, ensuring compatibility with their specific memory modules.
- Onboard Graphics The motherboard features an with a HDMI port a maximum resolution of 4096×2160@60 Hz. It supports HDMI 2.1 version and HDCP 2.3, with graphics specifications varying depending on CPU support.
- This provides users with the flexibility to utilize onboard graphics capabilities or to install dedicated cards for enhanced visual performance.Audio The X670 A
- The letter “X” marks the top spot in AMD’s chipset hierarchy, but Gigabyte’s () is no flagship motherboard;
- it’s positioned near the price bottom for premium X670/X670E boards,
-
making it one of the least-expensive ATX-size X670 options. This full-featured board has four M.2 sockets (one PCI Express 5.0); four SATA ports;
- integrated AMDÂ Wi-Fi 6EÂ plus a 2.5Gbps Ethernet port; capable voltage regulators (VRMs);
- an entry-level audio codec; and a design that looks cool inside your chassis.
- It misses an Editors’ Choice award, mainly because it’s missing a PCIe 5.0 GPU slot,
- it offers value-adds such as quick-release EZ-Latch M.2 and PCIe slots,
- and it has the specs, looks, and attractive price to tempt PC desktop builders looking to jump onto AMD’s latest platform. X670 AORUS ELITE AX

Board Design
The X670 Aorus Elite AX is an ATX-size board sitting on an eight-layer PCB. Overall, X670 AORUS ELITE AX
- it’s a basic design with similar PCB coverage as its competition.
- Matte black with light gray design elements on the heatsinks and I/O cover, X670 AORUS ELITE AX
- it should look good inside any chassis and work with most build themes.Flexing proudly on the large VRM heatsink is an Aorus eagle logo,
- while the M.2 and chipset heatsinks flaunt more Aorus branding and stenciled lines that meander their way from the chipset to the VRM heatsink.
- If you’re looking for integrated RGB lighting, however, you’ll have to look elsewhere, or buy your own and attach it to one of the four integrated headers.
- This motherboard supports AMD Ryzen AM5-based processors with 20-phase power delivery and 70A MOSFETs.
- Â 1120AÂ to the CPU (16 phases dedicated to Vcore) is plenty and handled our Ryzen 9 7950X both at stock speeds and while overclocked without flinching in our limited testing.
-  heatsinks did an excellent job of keeping power delivery within spec. You can overclock to your heart’s content, limited only by your cooling methods—not by the board.
- Just above the DRAM slots, to the right of the socket, you’ll see your first two (of five) 4-pin fan headers.
- Each supports PWM and DC fans and each outputs up to 2A/24W (see manual for details), X670 AORUS ELITE AX
- which is plenty to keep multiple fans and most pumps on a single header.
- As always, make sure you know how much power your fans and pump(s) require, as you want to avoid overloading these headers.
- This area is also home to the first two RGB headers; I spotted one 3-pin ARGB and one 4-pin RGB header here,
-
controlled via Gigabyte’s RGB Fusion application.
The four DRAM slots forego reinforcement and use locking mechanisms on the top and bottom. I prefer only one lock on top,
this isn’t a problem as you’ll find enough room to reach them. Continuing down the right edge of the board,
- Â simple power and reset buttons as well as the 24-pin ATX connector to power the board. X670 AORUS ELITE AX
- are the EZ-debug LEDs that light up during the POST process.
- If the system hangs in one of these areas (CPU, boot, VGA, DRAM), the respective LED remains lit, giving you an idea of where the problem lies.
- fan header in this area, plus the front-panel USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 (20Gbps) front panel header and a 5-pin Thunderbolt AIC header.Moving to the bottom of the board, the left side houses a fully exposed audio section.
- Here you’ll see the budget-level Realtek ALC897 codec along with a few audio capacitors.
- Â won’t find a motherboard with integrated DACs/amplifiers or Faraday cages to mitigate EMI in this price range, X670 AORUS ELITE AX
- many builders will find the Elite AX’s solution adequate for their needs. Those who don’t can use one of the extra PCIe slots with an add-in sound card.
